The leaders of two teams who won the right to participate in the final round of the competition during the qualification competitions of 1997 – 1998 Nikolay Svistun (PASL 71) and Augustas Kligys (Luthuania) officially notified of their non-participation in the final of the Global Race. However, they retain the right to completely replace the team.

Deutsche Welle: information partner of Global Autostop Race |

Today we have received an official confirmation from the representatives of the German television company Deutsche Welle regarding information support of the final of the Global Autostop Race.
In March 2005 journalists of Deutsche Welle prepared a report on the start of the second European selection round of the Global Autostop Race. It is planned to make a film on the final of the competition and the First Global Autostop Race as such.

PASL 4: Unexpected change of the "led" person |

The "led" person of Alexey Vorov's (the project leader) team ( PASL 4 >> ), which has been one of the best coordinated ones during the two qualification tours, has changed. Olga Zykova has left the team due to her serious health problems. The name of a new "led" person has not been made known yet.

Immagimondo 2005 |

On October 21 - 23 in Italy near Milano the annual international festival on travels and travellers Immagimondo 2005 >> will take place. This year Alexey Vorov (head of the project) and Vladimir Sharlaev (winner of the 1st and 2nd qualification tour) will take part in the exhibition. They will attend to present the Global Autostop Race project - results of the first and the second qualification tours and also the plans for the final round of the Race.

The date of the Global Race final has been postponed |
|
| |
The Organizing Committee of the First Global Autostop Race has decided to postpone the final start until April 2006. Significant amount of pre-start work as well as the postponement of the second qualification round from February until the end of March 2005, which reduced the time for preparation, made it impossible to prepare the start for the specified date in September 2005.
At the same time, postponement of the final start until an earlier date would made it necessary for the Organizing Committee to hold the race in winter conditions, which would be utterly undesirable - not only due to unfavourable weather conditions, but more due to the impossibility to position control points for orienteering.
The Organizing Committe hopes that the postponement of the final start date will allow to prepare the Grobal Race final in the best way.

May 11, 2005, the winners of Second Selection Tour were officially declared.
1 place - PASL 81 (Vladimr Sharlaev, Natalia Klobukova) (No penalties)
2 place - PASL 4 (Alexey Vorov, Olga Zykova) (No penalties)
3 place - PASL 102 (Olga Efimova, Michael Nechaev) (1 hour penalty thanks to disgusting racing-log shape)
Official estimation of PASL 101 & AVP results is postponed because of racing-log absence.
Due to Second Selects, PASL #105 was awarded to Michael Nechaev, PASL #106 was awarded to Dmitry Nekipelov.
